Carla Blumberg & Barb NeubertRaised in Texas, Carla uses cooking as a way to spread joy. She went to Texas Lutheran College to study theater, and later to University of Texas, Austin to study biology. Carla has no formal training in cooking, but that hasn’t stopped her from sharing the joys of good food.

After starting an organic farm near Austin, Carla opened up the East Side Café, Austin’s first restaurant to compost and recycle. She sourced many products from her farm, and had an early focus on local foods.

In 2002, she and her partner, Barb Neubert, opened At Sara’s Table Chester Creek Café in Duluth. Carla operates as the executive chef there and Barb manages the “front of the house” staff. They are still trying to do good deeds and save the Earth.
