Green summer recreation and travel tips: Take only photos, leave only footprints
On the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again... or into the air, on the water, on my bicycle.
No matter where you go or how you get there, you can take steps to reduce the environmental impact of your summer vacation plans.
Reducing your waste along the way: Carry your own reusable mug to avoid disposable cups. Many gas stations and convenience stores will let you refill your own cup, and sometimes there's a small discount!
Staying there: Book your guestrooms, campsites, or meeting rooms in places that are clearly interested in protecting our environment—let the management know that's why you've chosen their establishment. Green Routes can help you locate restaurants, lodging, attractions, and other businesses throughout Minnesota that operate in a sustainable way.
Special firewood note for Summer 2007: Don't bring your own
Planning to have a campfire on your next trip? Check out restrictions on moving firewood in Minnesota. Protect our trees from bad bugs - don't move firewood.
