Tis the season... to live green
Five million. We were shocked to learn that’s the number of extra tons of trash produced in the U.S. each year between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.

Here are more resources to make the holidays greener and simpler:
By the way, did you know that some holiday lights contain lead? Here's information about safer alternatives to make the season bright.
Resolve to be green: Take the Minnesota Energy Challenge
Make reducing your energy use a New Year's resolution. Energy use is one of the areas with the greatest potential to improve Minnesota's environment and your quality of life.
The idea behind the Minnesota Energy Challenge is to help Minnesotans take simple steps to reduce energy use and global warming emissions. The web site helps you calculate your home and transportation energy use. Then it walks you through a list of steps to reduce that energy use.
After you've taken steps to reduce your energy use, you can encourage your neighbors and co-workers to do the same. Make it a contest!
Another good resolution to make for the new year is to Buy Green Power for your home or business. It's clean, it's simple to sign up, and available to all Minnesotans!
Speak your green mind: Are you planning a green vacation?
As we think ahead to January, our minds turn to a trip somewhere GREEN AND WARM! This is your chance to share ideas and tips as you plan your green get-away this winter.
We'll feature some of your eco-tourist tips in the January newsletter. Send your ideas to livinggreen365@pca.state.mn.us
